11 March 1874 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 11th March [1874]. Got up after breakfast & painted all the morning. No post in. After lunch Henry & I went to the Academy to see how Grau is getting on with our copy of Murillos S. Elisabeth & then on to walk in the Retiro where I picked violets of which there are masses in the part which used to be the Reservado. We met Mme de Canitz walking with Mme Casa Torres. We saw the wild beasts fed & went to Bachs to get gloves & order a fan to be painted for me. | |
