19 March 1874 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 19th [March 1874]. I got up late– Wrote letters in the morning. Abt 2 Mrs MacDonell came to call. She is looking very pretty but has not yet recovered the long journey. I went to see the Dss de la Torre found her not well & very worried & anxious about Serrano as he seems not to be very well. The MacDonells dined with us. We had our usual musical party in the evening but it was not a great success—as Beck was ill, & also Quesada so that we had no pianist to accompany Mirecki & Espino until Mme Canitz came in rather later from the Opera when she read at sight 2 or 3 things & helped us out of the scrape. | |
