20 March 1874 — Madrid | |
Friday. 20th [March 1874]. I took Mrs MacDonell out to leave cards on her colleagues. The chest of tea & the box of books arrived from England & I set to work to unpack them. In the evening we went to the Canitz where we inaugurated a woman’s whist table & I played for the first time since I was a child in fact I had my first lesson & we had rather fun. | |
