31 March 1874 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 31st [March 1874]. Brehm called & gave me directions. I worked hard to finish my picture & Esquivel gave me a last lesson. Mrs MacDonell, the Ayltons, Vernouillet, Maffei, the Bernars & Aurelie came to wish us goodbye. We dined at 7 & started by the evening train for Cordova having a saloon carriage to ourselves. | |
