4 April 1874 — Málaga
Saturday. 4th April [1874]. Nety walked to the quay with us & Capt Montagu took us on board the “Escort” there was rather a swell & so I laid down at once in a kind a little deck cabin wh was made out of the wheel room. There were several Gib officers & Malaga people & Mr Lake who went amongst whom 3 or 4 ladies. By lying down I kept very well & even eat some luncheon but it was not very smooth water & the ladies were obliged to come into the deck cabin out of the wet. At 5 we arrived at Gib having left Malaga about 11 A.M. Before getting to Gib we had some tea. Mr Ward ADC came down to meet us in the Govr carriage & we were received at the Convent by the Govr & Major de Winton & his wife– We dined at 8 & went early to bed.
