5 April 1874 — Gibraltar
Sunday. 5th [April 1874]. Easter Sunday. We went to the service at 11 in the Chapel attached to the house where the govr has a gallery leading off his staircase. I stayed Sacrament with the Govr & De Wintons. After lunch Sir Fenwick took us out for a walk to see the Alameda & we came back & sat in the garden & had tea there. Col & Mrs Laffan called at tea time. At 6 we went again to church & afterwards had just time to dress for dinner. Major Jones a good natured man with sunburnt face—Mr Kendall the Chief Justice of Gib dined. We went to bed early.
