6 April 1874 — Gibraltar
Monday. 6th [April 1874]. It was rather a dull day. In the afternoon we took a drive with the Genl & went to call on Capt Macrae & to thank him for sending the Escort for us– He lives at a place called “the Mount” where there is a lovely gardens. His wife is a great invalid– Mr & Mrs Leslie & Col. Philip Smith dined with us & went all away early to go to a ball given by a Mr Bland. When they were gone I sang–
