22 May 1874 — Madrid | |
Friday. 22nd May [1874]. A busy morning over flowers &c—painted & spent a long time helping Hill to invent a semi-quatre sleeve. Very oppressive day. I went for a drive with Henry for an hour & then rested till it was time to dress for dinner. We dined at the Canitz & there met Ittersum, Carnide, Nicholas, Radolinsky– Henry played whist in the evening we did nothing particular– The only other lady was Mme Fuenrubia. | |
