29 May 1874 — Madrid | |
Friday. 29th [May 1874]. Very hot day. Painted in the morning & wrote to Maria. Mr Hunt lunched with us—went out riding at 7 & rode in the Fuente getting home just in time for dinner. I dressed afterwards & we went to the Canitz to their last reception & took the Ayltons with us, there were a good many people & it was very hot. The Whytes started for Santander on their way to Tours & Espinosa saw them off. | |
