16 June 1874 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 16th [June 1874]. I painted & Esquivel gave a lesson. We breakfasted at 11 & dined at 5½ as it was hot. I was going to take out the Ayltons but a thunderstorm came on & heavy rain so I sat at the open window & worked & at abt 7 the Ayltons came in. Henry went out for a little walk after the storm. At ½ past 9 the Ayltons went away & Henry & I played backgammon & had tea– | |
