Wednesday. 17th [June 1874]. I painted and Esq. came early for my lesson. Abt 5 Grau came & we cleaned & varnished the background of my urna– But it got very dark & stormy & at 6 when I went out it began to rain. However it was only a shower. I fetched the Ayltons & we went to the Fuente & got out & walked. Henry rode. We came home abt 7½ & there was a thunderstorm & dined after 8. I brought the girls in to dinner. At 9½ we went to the Presidencia & left the girls at home. There were not many people at the Serranos. Henry presented Mr MacDonell as Ch dAffaires while he is away. The Dss had a lovely gown of 5 colours wh cost 1500rs. Mr Riaño called in the afternoon & leaves for England tomorrow. | |
