8 July 1874 — Langham House, Portland Place | |
Wednesday. 8th July [1874]. Everybody was out at luncheon & I had just finished a solo on the knife & fork when Maria turned up. We went out afterwards together, & I left her at the dress makers, in Adelines brougham. I went to see Mrs Burr & then picked up Adeline & we went abt shopping together & went to see Nety Montagu & had tea with her—on leaving there we were going to Connies but I found it was just 7 so I insisted on going home—& A had to get into a cab. I had just time to get home & dress for dinner & rush off to dine with the Burrs where we met the Tom Taylors, Mrs Nassau Senior. We went on to a party at Lady Wolvertons where we met Alice Rate. There was the Hungarian band & they danced. We came away early & took Alice home. | |
