9 July 1874 — Langham House, Portland Place | |
Thursday. 9th [July 1874]. Alice fetched me driving & we left cards & she took me down to Connies. I saw her for a few minutes. There was a family dinner party at home but Blanche dined out—there were Emilia Riaño, Mr Clark, Fred & Julian Lay & Mrs (Lilly) Layard who calls herself the only Mrs Layard—we are M Mrs Henry, Mrs Fred &c. Maria & Richard. After we sat down Monty came in & in the evening he went & sat in Blanche’s room & smoked & I went with him. | |
