24 July 1874 — Venice | |
Friday. 24th [July 1874]. Went to Lido & bathed with Pss Vidoni & her Daughter Css Soranzo & her children. We found the men bathers very rude & insisted upon coming among the women & Henry was very angry & complained to the Director & spoke to Sr Cerisole whom we met on board the steamer—threatening to write to the Times. In the afternoon we went to leave cards & had a visit fm Mr Brown. Came home at 4 & painted. Went to Piazza in the eveng. It was rather windy & there was a sudden panic & all the ladies fled from the tables opposite Florians but the weather calmed down & so did the people. | |
