27 August 1874 — Venice | |
Thursday. 27th [August 1874]. I went to see the Hurtado’s & had a most painful scene. Poor Mme Hurtado was in a dreadful state & Idita was trying to be calm, it upset me very much. We went to see Ca’ Capello again & agreed to [meet] Mr Brown there—we think of buying the house. Went home & painted till dinner at 6.30. Went out after to the Piazza. | |
