29 December 1874 — Madrid
Tuesday. 29th [December 1874]. Woke with a headache but managed to copy a letter for Henry to send by the French messenger. Had to be on the sofa all day in the drawing room as there was something being done in my boudoir. I had to send away Esquivel who came to give me a lesson. At 5 Brehm came having also been ill. I found Ignacio much better & has hopes of him. I went to bed at 6. Just abt that time came M. Cohen to tell Henry he had heard that there was a pronounciamento of the army of the center commanded by Genl Jovellanos & Martinez Campo at Seguntero. Henry went to the Presidencia. Found it was true & came back to say the Dss was going to send the children here. Hill set abt arranging the rooms & I got up & recd the children in my room as they had to wait till their rooms were ready.
