20 January 1875 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 20th [January 1875]. Was better & got up. Painted. In the afternoon Mme Bauer came & asked us to dine with them on Saturday. The Riaños called & I took Emilia to consult abt finishing my green velvet with the old lace. Mme Aylton called & stayed late. After dinner we walked round to the Bauers where we heard the Carrtero was very ill. He has lost his voice the last 2 months & now seems to be spitting blood. | |
