23 January 1875 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 23rd [January 1875]. Painted in expectation of Esquivel but he did not come. At 3.30 went to the dentist but my tooth cd not be stopped. We went on to take a turn in the Retiro where there were crowds as it was a feast day. St Ildefonso & the King’s birthday. The public offices were colgados a illuminated. We dined with the Bauers & met D. Tervanto Riuz Gomez, Maffei Llorente Esquivel & had a very pleasant evening. | |
