30 May 1875 — Genoa
Sunday. 30th [May 1875]. Fine weather & got up early. At 11 there was service in the battery. The tars sang very well to the harmonium. The parson Barker cut the service very short. We arrived at Genova abt 3 P.M. & it was then quite fine. Salute fired off 21 guns & then we landed. Henry, I & Hill went to the Hotel d’Italie & Joubert & Giovanni went on to Milan for Venice. Capt. Iago & Sally came & dined with us. Henry & I took a walk in the town before dinner.
