31 May 1875 — Genoa | |
Monday. 31st May [1875]. We went off by the early train to Baveno & 6 of the officers of the Invincible came with us. At Novara we had an hour to wait & took a walk in the town. Got to Arona abt 2 & reached Baveno at 4. The officers went to see the Borromean Islands & did not join us till table d’hõte of 6½ o’cl. After dinner they took me in a boat & we sang & had a pleasant eveng. We parted the eveng as they are to go off to see the other lakes & back to Genova by the early boat tomorrow. | |
