16 July 1875 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 16th July [1875]. It was dark & threatened rain but we managed to go to the Favorita and to get our swim & the rain came on as soon as we got home. Wrote. Went out to leave cards & called on Brown. Found him in. It was a wet eveng. Went after dinner to Css Marcello & met there a great many people come to take leave of her as she starts on Sunday for S. Moritz. Came home & sang. In the night we had a tremendous thunderstorm. | |
