Sunday. 8th [August 1875]. Sat at home with Henry. At 1 went to call on the Hutchins’. After lunch we went to see Sir Boxall whom we found in—very shaky & depressed. He showed us some portraits he was finishing & said he wd have liked to paint mine. He patted me on the shoulder called me his “dear child” & seemed very lonely & low. We went afterwards to call on Lady Hammond & Mme Hurtado but only saw the former. | |
