22 August 1875 — Bere Cottage, Bere Regis, Dorset | |
Sunday. 22nd [August 1875]. Monty, Adeline & I went to church. It is undergoing repairs & the service was held in a corner. It is a lovely old church but it is being sadly spoilt by repairs. There is a curious old round roof with large heads wh are all painted & the fresh paint looks horrible, the old paint was not pretty but quaint with age. In the afternoon the others went for a walk, I stayed at home & sketched. In the eveng Mr Ware the clergyman came in. | |
