Friday. 21st [January 1876]. Henry had a bad night & had no sleep with a pain in his chest so I gave him some medicine & he stayed in bed. In the afternoon I went out for an hour to see for the Dr. Brehm was away so I called Fontaine. I went to see Mme Bernar to congrats on their title of “Counts” & came quickly home to Henry. The Dr came & said that Henry has got neuralgic spasms of the stomach what is called in the medicine book Colique de Madrid—ordered him a hot bath—linseed poultices frictions & medicine.
