23 February 1876 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 23rd February [1876]. Painted all the morng. At 3 drove with Henry. Splendid day. Walked in Retiro. We dined with the Bauers & met besides Nicolas (who lives there), Ojeda, Sr Salaverria (Min. of Hacienda). In the eveng came the Salms & interrupted Ojeda & me who were singing Spanish songs. We stayed till nearly 12. Some uneasiness is felt abt the Carlist war. D. Carlos & his followers having disappeared & it not being known where he will reappear. | |
