28 February 1876 — Madrid
Monday. 28th [February 1876]. I had such a bad headache that I remained in bed all the morng & got on the sofa in the afternoon– I sent the carriage out with Mme Hatzfeldt, Mme Salm, Louise Aylton & Mlle San Carlos. Zavierito Comyn came to see me & after dinner L. Aylton came for a few minutes. I dressed after dinner & received but very few people came– The news of peace with the Carlists arrived in the afternoon & the colgaduras were ordered to be put out & 3 days illuminations. Everybody was very pleased. Genl Pavia came in the eveng.
