17 April 1876 — Madrid
Monday. 17th [April 1876]. It was a miserably cold windy wet day & there was no going out. Mr Aylton & the 2 girls called to see Mr Morier who then went out in our carriage leaving cards. We arranged to go to Alicante tomorrow eveng as as to give Henry change of air as he was so CD. We telegraphed for rooms & are to start tomorrow night. Took a box & went to hear Aida with Mr Morier & were joined by the Walshams–
