21 July 1876 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 21st [July 1876]. The turtle soup had evidently been too much for me for I got up with a violent headache & had to remain on the sofa all day. At 2 Brown called. At 5 Css Brandolini called on me & I managed to get up to receive her. She took off Morelli to dine with her. Maffei went to dine with the Papadopolis. After dinner Henry & I went for a row to see if the air could do me good but I did not get much good from it & was glad to come home early & go to bed. | |
