26 August 1876 — Aldermaston Court, Aldermaston, Berkshire | |
Saturday. 26th August [1876]. We left Aldermaston by 10.30 train. Grannie’s servant met us & took our luggage to Blackheath & we spent the day in town. We went to see Sir Wm Boxall & sat with him ½ hour. He made us a present of a portrait of a Doge Marcello & begged us to carry it off. We promised to fetch it. We went to lunch with Blanche & Edw at Hamilton House, met the M & S there just up from Canford & I stayed with her while Henry went shopping & fetched me later. Adeline & Eugenia came to tea. We got to Blackheath for 7 o’cl dinner. | |
