27 August 1876 — Blackheath
Sunday. 27th [August 1876]. Hired a brougham & drove over to Roehampton to spend the day with Maria. Found her not very well. Richard was away. All the children were at home except Dacre who had strained his leg at cricket at Canford & cd not be moved. Mr Henry Glyn’s 2 boys also staying there. Mr & Mrs Edmund Du Cane came over from Coombe. We sat out on the lawn when the sun came out but it was mostly a dull day. We stopped to dinner & left for Blackheath abt 9.30– Got home about 11.
