18 September 1876 — Blackheath | |
Monday. 18th September [1876]. Henry went to town in the morng. While Grannie & I were at lunch Mr Rate came. He had come from Dorking on purpose to see me. He said the boy was getting on slowly but surely; that he himself had returned from Germany on Friday night at 10 P.M. Alice was much fatigued but pretty well. He only stayed an hour. Miss Berkeley came later & sat with us a long time & when she was with us Henry returned– Packed & sent off our luggage at 7 oclock so that it might go by cart to meet us at Cannon St tomorrow morning. | |
