19 September 1876 — Blackheath
Tuesday. 19th [September 1876]. Breakfasted at 7 & went down to 8.10 train wh took us to Cannon St. Then were met by the M & S, found our luggage & took our seats for Paris. Had a good crossing. No wind—but rather a swell. I had a deck cabin & was not ill. A great crowd of people as many had waited for a fine day for crossing & today was the 1st fine day for some time. We got to Paris at 6.30. Belard met us. We went to the Hotel & dined & Belard stayed for the luggage. After dinner I had a headache & went at once to bed.
