23 September 1876 — Paris
Saturday. 23rd [September 1876]. Walked with Henry in the morning as far as the Embassy & paid Mr Atlee a visit in the Consulate. Walked back to lunch. At 2 Mr Hunt came & brought his mother to be introduced to me. She is a fine woman—must have been very handsome—rather got up but bien conservée. Henry & I went to the Exhibition at the Palais d’Industrie where we spent 2 hours—& bought some ripoussé metal flower pots. Went on to the Weisweillers to take leave of them & Ettlings. Had tea there. Dined at the Embassy with Ld Lyons. Met there Capt & Mrs Howard (Naval attache), the Goschens, Mr Barrington & Mr Leckie whom we last saw at T. Wells station. Before dinner we had a visit from Mr & Mrs Palmaroli. Both very blooming.
