2 October 1876 — Madrid | |
Monday. 2nd October [1876]. Mrs Beale came with my tea in the morng & said that Hill was not well eno’ to get up. I went up to see her & found her with a very severe cold—made her stay in bed & sent for Dr Fontaine. He said she was threatened with pulmonia & must remain in bed. I wrote letters. Had a visit from a Signor Bizio with introduction from Css Marcello. Clarita came to see me & stayed a long time– Had tea with us. The Escobars’ called—also Marquis Balbi. The Walshams dined with us. | |
