22 October 1876 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 22nd [October 1876]. Went to church in the morning & to afternoon prayers. I did not go out. At 6 Henry went to the Palace having recd the summons at 4 to wait on the Montpensiers. He said the Corp Dip: were recd “on circle”—some were in uniform some in eveng dress & he in morng costume. Dona Mercedes he thought dumpy fat & plain– We had Phipps, Dawson, Kennedy & young Birch to dinner. | |
