11 November 1876 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 11th November [1876]. I wrote a lot of letters wh I had to answer– Mr Dawson called—& then M. Blumenthal the pianist who has married a friend of Henry’s an English woman. Did not go out showery day. At 5 Herr Tümpling called & Ida Bauer & we had tea. I told Ida the result of my interview with the maid. Sir Henry & Miss Thompson, Mr & Miss Glyn & Mr Kennedy dined with us. I had a headache & not sorry to go to bed. Henry a bad cold & H. Beale is also laid up with a feverish cold & we had to call in Fontaine. Css Almina had a mass for soul of Maria Victoria to wh all the liberals went as a demonstration. | |
