18 November 1876 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 18th [November 1876]. The Bruces came after all. But they went at once to bed & we did not see them till 11.30 breakfast. Mrs B. sat with me while I drew. Mrs Phipps called. At 3 we went out driving. Dropped Henry & Mr Bruce in the Cortès & took a turn in the Retiro & down by the Atocha but missed seeing the King come & go to the Salve. Hatzfeldt & Clarita dined & we sang a little in eveng I trying Clarita’s accompaniments. | |
