7 February 1877 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 7th [February 1877]. Wrote in morng. At 2 went out & fetched Emilia & we went to the Archeological Museum wh I had not seen for some years– It is now in a small kind of country house in the Calle de Embajadores wh belonged to Q. Isabella & has a nice little garden. There are some tapestries & also some tombs from churches pulled down during the revolution– Some Moncloa & Retiro China—some enamels & ivories—& some casts of plate wh were given by the S K Museum. Silvela & Hatzfeldt came & dined & wrote all the eveng. I sat in my room & went to bed early while they were still discussing & writing. | |
