31 March 1877 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 31st [March 1877]. Packed & arranged things. At 4 we went to call on the Dss de la Torre to tell her of our departure but she had already heard of it. She was very cold & indifferent & showed herself as heartless as she has the reputation of being. We went on to the Koudriaffsky’s & Mme Comyn & then hurried home. It was hot & sultry. We dined with the Bauers & met the usual tertulia all loud in their regrets at our departure. | |
