1 April 1877 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 1st April [1877]. Easter Sunday. I went to church in the morng & stayed to the sacrament at which Clara & Miss Breik the 2 English nurses were for the 1st time. After breakfast I drove out to call on Mme Bernar, Mariquilla, Mme Silvela. The Calle Alcala was most animated being the 1st bull fight & a fine warm day & every one was rushing off to the bullring. Ruiz Gomez, Esquivel, Monteverde, Fitch, Dawson, the Hunts, Mr Gough, Capt Seymour (the messenger) dined with us & Ojeda came in the evening. | |
