2 July 1877 — Therapia | |
Monday. 2nd July [1877]. It poured hard all night & there were showers all today but I managed to get out & give directions abt arrangg the garden for Friday. Went out walking in the Garden with Hy in the afternoon & went with Mr Smijth on the quay to see abt fishing but found it no use as the fish wd not bite. It was lovely between the showers & there was a fine rainbow. When the Adl returned from town he told us that Redif was to start tomorrow for the seat of war & that the Sultan was furious with him at the state of the Army in Europe. Henry also announced that tomorrow our fleet will be at Besika Bay. | |
