Tuesday. 31st July [1877]. Bathed and wrote before breakfast. News of a battle near Plevna in wh the Turks are victorious & the Russians have retreated. Sat out in the garden & had tea under the tent. Mme & Mlle Zarifi called & paid their visit in the garden. | |
