1 August 1877 — Therapia
Wednesday. 1st August [1877]. Did not bathe as the weather was bad & I had a headache so wrote letters to go by today’s messenger. I could not write much & had to lie down all day. Lord Melgund left us to return to England. Miss Boyd & Lady Kemball called. Lady K. to take leave & she goes to England today with her children. Genl Dickson left for Besika Bay. At 4 Mme Parnis came to see me at 5. I had some tea & went to the garden. It was still blowing hard but was very hot & close. Major de Winton dined with us. Miss Boyd came to stay with us.
