10 November 1877 — Therapia
Saturday. 10th [November 1877]. Fine morning took a turn in garden. Worked– Kashgar Amb & Capt. Malloy came to visit Henry the latter lunched with us, the former is keeping a Ramazan as a sign of mourning for his uncle the Emir. We intended going out fishing but it came on to pour & it rained hard all the afternoon. The Genl & Col Baker’s brother dined with us also Mr Sandison & Kennedy. Made bandages. Rather better news from Asia. Erzerum not taken & all inhabitants defending it even women & children.
