6 March 1878 — Constantinople | |
Wednesday. 6th March [1878]. Wrote for the post & instructed Jerry. I & Mme Joubert, Hill & Jerry all set to work to cut out garments &c for the refugees & wounded. Hobart P. came to tea. Ahmed Vefyk P. came to call & stayed to dinner. He was in better spirits but very tired. He said he had been twice to the Palace & after dinner an ADC of the Sultan arrived with a letter fm H.M. enveloped in a bit of new muslin requiring him to go once more to the Palace. Mr Smijth & Major de W. dined with us also. | |
