3 April 1878 — Constantinople
Wednesday. 3rd April [1878]. Wrote for the messenger & post. At luncheon Adl Hornby and Said P. came. I went out in the garden to sit and read. It was very fine but windy & dusty. Mr Jocelyn joined me & Mr Leveson Gower & the latter & I trimmed trees together. Mme Issoudun & Mme Herbert called. Henry came & had tea in my boudoir. Major de Winton & Mr Smijth dined with us.
