17 July 1878 — Therapia | |
Wednesday. 17th July [1878]. Bathed before breakfast. Afterwards took a turn with Henry in the garden. Planted some myrtle cuttings. Wrote for the post. Just as we finished luncheon the Helicon arrived bringing the Admiral & Mr Winsloe & Mr & Mrs Hall of H.M.S. Flamingo. We gave them luncheon & the Halls went away but the rest played tennis. While playing Mrs Willy Hanson came & sat with us till abt 7 o’cl: The Admiral returned to Prinkipo at 4.30. There was a meeting of the Corps Dip: at 5 o’cl and Conte & Maynard came out & sat a while with us while waiting for the others to return to town. Mr Grace dined with us. He brought the news that the Henry Hansons little boy had fallen into a pond & was drowned– | |
