17 August 1878 — Therapia | |
Saturday. 17th [August 1878]. Had Turkish lesson. Painted Aimée’s portrait & view of French Embassy. At 4 went to play lawn tennis with Aimée, Mr Ashburnham, Mr Mallet & Cartwright. The General, Mr Chermside, Mr Kennedy & Lord George went off in the Antelope in the morning to attend the Russian review at S. Stefano. Henry & Mr Sandison (who lunched with us) went directly afterwards in the carriage to Yildiz to see the Sultan but returned to dinner. At 6 I went in and read & instructed Jerry till dinner time. Mr Sandison dined with us. The Genl was not back. | |
