11 September 1878 — Therapia
Wednesday. 11th September [1878]. At 9.30 Henry went in the Antelope to Buyukdéré to compliment Labanoff on the Emperor’s birthday & then came back & the Burrs, Miss Scobell, Sir H. D. Wolff & Lord Donoughmore & the General joined him. He had taken up Ct Hatzfeldt at Buyukdéré and we went down to visit the Adl at Prinkipo. We got down at abt 12.30 & went on board the Alexandra. Found Lady & Miss Hornby there. They gave us lunch & then I sat talking to Lady Hornby & Capt. Heneage while Hatzfeldt & the Burrs went round the ship. We then went off in the boat & had to lay on our oars while a salute was fired for Hatzfeldt. We landed at the house the Hornbys are living in lent them by the banker Zarifi & sat in the garden where tea was served. I had a headache all day & by this time it had got very bad so I cd take no tea. I went into the house just to see it & then we went down to the boat & sailed to the “Antelope” & at 4.30 started home. I laid on the sofa & slept most of the way & when we got in at 7.30 I went straight to bed.
