9 March 1879 — 24 Onslow Gardens | |
Sunday. 9th [March 1879]. I went to church in the morng with Connie & L & her children & little Mildred. Went to Mr Byng’s who is a crack preacher. I was not even impressed. The church was very full & rather over decorated & very hot. Met M. Goldschmidt (Jenny Lind’s husband) on the way back & also Frederic Layard who had come from Bkheath to see us. When I went home I found that Fred had not realized me & had taken me for Maria. We had a great many visits from Maria & Alice, & Monty & Ivor & Connie & Blanche– The Tom Bruces and Mr & Mrs Porges. Blanche stayed to dinner. | |
